Manson Anchors of New Zealand is known for producing some impressive custom hooks, such as the stainless steel Ray models aboard Mirabella V. Most recent is the pair of 1,918-pound Kedge anchors for Laurel, the 240-foot Delta Marine–built yacht—the largest yacht built in the United States in 75 years. The stainless steel anchors were glass-blasted to give them the appearance of titanium. For the ultimate look, Manson also offers a titanium nitride coating that looks as if it is gold plated.

The company’s Supreme model recently received Lloyd’s Register of Shipping certification of SHHP (super high holding power). The model is available in stainless and galvanized steel in standard sizes up to 80 pounds, and custom sizes up to 300 pounds. The Supreme delivers approximately 30 to 40 percent greater holding than the manufacturer’s Kedge, Plough and Ray models of the same weight in similar conditions. It is the only production boat anchor to be awarded the SHHP designation.
