How far away is it? How fast is it going? Boaters can quickly and easily size up their target and answer those questions with a look through Newcon Optik’s LRM1500SPD. The waterproof digital binoculars not only provide instant distance measuring, but also measure an object’s speed – closing and across the field – from five to 300 mph.

Advanced glass optics provides a clear sharp image with an eight-degree field of view, seven-power magnification and a distance measuring range of 1,600 yards (4,800 feet, nearly a mile). The target is followed with a selectable reticule of a cross or rectangular, and a built-in memory recalls the last 10 results. The compact unit measures 4.63 by 4.75 by 2.83 inches and requires a nine-volt battery. Units of measurement are shown in the display in a choice of yards or meters, kilometers or miles per hour or degrees. The LRM1500 is also available, providing distance-measuring capabilities only.
