Once relegated to the realm of wizards, the art of quieting a boat is now a
little less mysterious.
Silent Running SR1000 is a water-based, nontoxic
coating that can be applied to any surface by brush, roller or spray. After
curing for a week, the off-white coating can be painted to match the surrounding
décor. Approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and European Union, the nonflammable
coating dampens vibration and reduces noise by converting the energy to
low-grade heat and dissipating it throughout the applied surface.
The coating
is oil- and gas-resistant and will not crack or chip due to expansion or flexing
of the substrate.
